Newborn things you’ll actually use

I'm making this blog post to help out the new moms because I was absolutely clueless to what a newborn ACTUALLY needs. Spoiler: it's not a lot. Some of these things are a little extra, but they have made my life a whole lot easier these past few days. Amazon affiliate links below!

You will of course need your basics: diapers, wipes, pumping/breastfeeding/formula essentials, soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. but this is a list of things that I personally use and will continue to use!

Bumbo changing pad: https://amzn.to/3u5zjl4

I wanted the keekaroo peanut changer, but I was not about to give $150 for a changing pad. This one is a great dupe and half the price! The best part is that it wipes off anything that gets on it and doesn't stain.

Rolling bassinet: https://amzn.to/3SmjHE7

We have this bassinet in dark grey and it has helped so much. It has wheels so we just roll the baby around the house and the mesh sides give me peace of mind!

I had to have a camera that didn't require WiFi, mainly because we cannot get internet where we live, but also because of the creeps that can now hack baby monitors (scary stuff). The quality of this one is great and it only costs $60! It shows the temperature of the room as well.

Dr. Browns 4oz Bottles: https://amzn.to/47cg7Au

My baby loves to eat, but he does it waaay too fast and ends up either throwing up or being gassy. These bottles help TREMENDOUSLY with that. I use them for formula and after I pump!

Knotted gowns:

These gowns are super soft so easy to put on and pull up for diaper changes. I have about 20 of them and they are the best.

Zipper footies:

Everyone told me that I wouldn't like these, but to me they are easier than any other kind of outfit and they keep baby warm better than anything else!

This car monitor is actually great quality for $40! It is so much easier than the classic mirror on the back of the headrest.

This sleep sack has been about the only one that my baby can and will use without pitching a fit. The other ones seem way too big for my 8 pound, tall baby, but this one is just perfect.

I bought the hatch and this little machine and my baby actually prefers this cheaper alternative instead. It was our saving grace in the hospital!

Nasal aspirator: https://amzn.to/3Spi74a

The bulbs that they give you at the hospital were just too big for our little guys nose. This has been a life saver. It lights up and plays music as well.

Evenflo travel system:

I originally wanted the Doona but I wasn't giving that much money for something. I found this travel system and it is so handy. It's a carriage, car seat, stroller combo that includes the base.

Diaper bag:

We absolutely love this diaper bag! It has so many compartments and fits so much stuff. I ordered a personalized leather name tag off of Etsy to put on the front. I got the color coffee and it sort of reminds you of Carhartt.

Burp cloths: My favorite burp cloths are made by Copper Pearl or just the solid-colored muslin ones! Here are links to the ones I personally love!

Cowboy Cop. Pearl cloths: https://amzn.to/3SqPns3

Neutral green Cop. Pearl: https://amzn.to/3MtnN9F

Towels and wash cloths:

These Copper Pearl hooded bath towels and rags are my favorite. They are the softest ones I've found and since we aren't able to fully bathe him yet, they make "sponge baths" easy.

Hooded bath towels:

I'm sure I am missing a couple of things I use daily, but this is the majority of my "must haves"!
