Makeup Must Haves

As a makeup artist, I have had to use a lot of different types of products. Throughout the years I have narrowed it down and these are about all I use on myself and on my clients!

I'll be posting the Amazon products links I use in order, but before I start, check out my blog post on skincare. I always do this before applying my makeup whether it be before bed, or directly before I apply my makeup! skincare blog: https://photographytgrace.wixsite.com/taylorholzheuser/post/how-i-fixed-my-skin-issues-the-routine

Foundation:

This foundation has a buildable coverage and a satin finish. It works great on the skin types of all of my clients and comes in a variety of colors.

Foundation/concealer sponge:

I like this sponge because it's softer and doesn't absorb as much product as others. Before "dabbing" in my foundation and concealer I like to dampen it a little.

Concealer:

This concealer is almost identical to Tarte's Shape Tape, but it is a fraction of the cost. It is on the heavier side, but not too heavy because it's most definitely buildable. It also comes in a variety of shades.

Makeup Brushes:

I've collected a ton of brushes over the years for my clients, but I wanted something new for myself so I ordered these a couple of months ago and I love them! They are soft to the touch and blend well.

Eyebrows and Eyeshadow:

If we're being completely honest, I wholeheartedly believe that you can go overboard on some brows real quick. I've learned that using a lighter eyeshadow to fill in those sparse areas helps without making them too dark. This Morphe palette is my ultimate go-to. Any matte Morphe palette is honestly my go-to. They are super pigmented but blend very, very well. To many people's surprise, I only use oranges, browns, and purples. I rarely use grays or blacks.

Powder:

You've probably seen this powder in your grandmother's makeup bag! As long as they stay in business, they will have me as a customer. I get the translucent because all of my clients have different shades of skin. I use this for baking under the eyes when applying eyeshadow (to avoid fallout), the bridge of the nose, the forehead, and chin. I simply blend it all in after I'm done with the eyeshadow.

Bronzer:

I enjoy using this bronzer from Hoola/Benefit all year round. It isn't too dark and blends very well. I apply bronzer like contour so it knocks out a few steps of the makeup process.

Blush:

I like a pretty bold blush. Especially if my clients are in pageants or taking photos. The good thing about this one is that if you get too much, take a clean brush and blend and it'll lighten it back up.

Eyeliner:

I don't care what people say, I will always be a fan of 2016 makeup trends and this has been my go-to since then. If you have watery eyes like me, this stuff doesn't leak down your face like others. It also makes a pretty good wing if you are still into that like I am. I usually go back over it after it dries with a dark eyeshadow from the palette above just to blend out the line a little better.

Mascara:

I love this mascara and I probably always will. It doesn't get all clumpy and it doesn't flake all over your face during the day. It also doesn't burn like others when you wash it off. Only downside is that it's not completely waterproof if you are shedding some tears.

Lip liner:

This lipliner is the perfect base for any lipstick. It's in the "nude" family but you can make it as dark or light as you want. Plus it's very cheap and high quality.

Lip stick/gloss;

This tinted lipgloss is the perfect match for the lipliner above. I like it a tad bit better than the classic lipstick because it doesn't get on your teeth or smear all over your face when eating.

For a more glam look, eyelashes:

Kiss number 11s are perfect in my opinion. They aren't super long or thick, but they give you the natural eyelash extension look. They are the perfect duo for Ardell Wispies but half the cost. These bad boys are also reusable if you clean them properly.

I honestly would wear fake eyelashes every day and this glue would make it possible. I can keep my eyelashes on for hours with this stuff right here!

I use all of these products for my everyday makeup AND my glam makeup. It's all buildable so you have the reins when it comes to how dark or bold you make it. I hope you found you some good stuff! Happy Thursday!
