When I got married I had absolutely no idea how to cook, which is shocking to most people because of my grandmother (who has made her own cookbook). I was constantly looking for easy recipes on Pinterest and I found a few of these "Texas Roadhouse Roll" recipes that I liked, but they all seemed to take a ridiculous amount of time. I combined my favorite ones that I had tried and made this one! I will say, I am NO cook, but this one totally works for me.
I will do the cinnamon butter that Texas Roadhouse does, but I also like to mix up some garlic butter because my husband isn't a huge fan of "sweet butter".
Roll recipe:
• 1 tablespoon of warm(105ish degrees) water
• 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar (take a teaspoon out of this measurement for the first part)
• 1 packet of active dry yeast (it equals about 2 teaspoons)
•1 cup of warmed milk (about 105ish degrees)
•6 tablespoons of melted butter
•1 egg at room temp
• 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
•3 1/2 cups of bread flour or all purpose flour (I've used both and personally can't tell a difference)
How to:
•add dough hook to the mixer, add your 1 tbs of warm water, that 1 teaspoon of sugar, and your packet of active dry yeast and let sit for about five minutes
•add in the rest of your 6 tablespoons of sugar(minus that one little teaspoon), 1 teaspoon of salt, and 6 tablespoons of melted butter and mix it until its combined (doesn't have to be perfect, lots of mixing to come)
•mix in your room temp egg
•add in the flour, I just put it in all at once, and mix on medium speed until combined
•after combining everything, knead the dough (just low speed on your mixer) for 4 minutes
•nonstick spray or butter up a bowl and place your dough in it. Cover with a towel and stick it in a warm place to rise until it's twice its size (I let mine go for 2 hours)
•press down on the risen dough to deflate it and divide it up in equal pieces, place into a large baking dish
•cover them for an additional 30 minutes to rise
•put them in the oven at 350 and bake for 12-15 minutes, brush with butter, and enjoy!
We usually don't eat 12 rolls, so I put the remaining dough in a Tupperware container and stick it in the fridge. I haven't had in issue in the past with this and they cook perfectly even after being in the fridge!
