All of the products:

The cooler months are here and my tan is already gone for the year. I'm just going to be honest, I feel 100% better when I have a tan.

I feel like at this point in my life, I am a self-tanning expert. I've probably tried every kind that there is to try. I will add all of my favorite self-tanning products in an Amazon list, but today we’re talking about my all time favorites!

First things first, let’s talk about mousse! I like seeing the color as soon as I put it on my skin. Fake Bake and Peta Jane are great brands if you like mousse! They go on smooth and blend perfect!! You don’t have to shower off Fake Bake, but you do need to shower off Peta Jane. I always get the shade “dark” in both of these.

I saw a hack on TikTok where people were using professional spray tan solution at home. I was a bit skeptical at first, so I ordered the smallest amount first which is 8 fluid oz in the $20s. When I was in cosmetology school, we learned how to spray tan with the brand Norvell, so that’s the brand I stuck with.

Spray tan solution is very watery, so I went ahead and ordered a misting spray bottle to go with it. I tried it out as soon as it came in the mail and I was IN LOVE. It lasts about a week on my super dry skin, but if you keep yourself moisturized, it tends to last a bit longer. It doesn’t look orange or patchy. I use the shade “double dark”.

I loved just having to spray myself and do a quick swipe with the mitt, but I have a white shower. I don’t like having to scrub my shower due to the overspray every week, so I came up with another plan! All of the other self tan products I love are foams and mousses. They do not get anywhere due to being rubbed into the skin. I hopped on Amazon and ordered this foaming hand soap dispenser put the solution in and it worked fabulous!

The best part about this tanning hack is the amount of product you get for the cost. The foam I used back in the day is $32 for only 6.7 fluid oz and would last me about a month. The Norvell brand that I use now is in the $60s for 34 fluid oz and this bottle has lasted me a year and counting.

I absolutely hate having to change my sheets out every time I tan. It seems like more of a chore than the tanning itself. Luckily, the Norvell solutions do not have as much of a transfer as the other brands I've used because they aren’t as greasy! It has saved my sheets and towels from looking like they rolled around in the dirt.

The absolute WORST part of tanning yourself is trying to get your back. I should've known that in 2025 someone has come up for a solution to that problem. They have an applicator designed especially for tanning your back. I don't know where it has been my whole life!

Now that you know what I use to get my glow, I hope your self-tanning experience is a whole lot better! Thanks for checking out this article!
